Pattern Language

The concept of pattern languages was developed by the Christopher Alexander , an architect and urban design theorist.

He introduced this concept in a three volume set. One book, The Timeless Way of Building , explored the theory of patterns in architectural design. A Pattern Language defined common patterns used in design. The Oregon Experiment explored how pattern language was used to develop the campus design of the University of Oregon.

His concepts were profoundly influential in the development of Object Oriented Programming , Agile and the Original Wiki Platform .
