Here are some concepts that I am exploring that are paradigms in which this pattern language resides. Feel free to explore them in whatever order you like. None of them stand alone - they all intertwine.
The Garden: We each have a garden of curiosity that shapes our exploration and learning. Within that garden, we find our creative genius.
Positive Deviancy: When we are seeking to create transformational change, we need to create models of that new reality that others can use for reference and adopt.
Hero's Journey: Transformation change is powerful, but it is difficult. But this process speaks to archetypal themes of our human experience and have shaped our stories for thousands of years.
Fort Hall Decision: When we make difficult decision to venture off on courageous journies, we draw our courage from our core values. We are empowered on our journeys when we share the values with others who are on similar journeys.
Curiosity: At the core of real learning is curiosity. We know this intuitively. But research has also demonstrated that we are biologically wired for curiosity.
Deeper Learning: The concept of deeper learning has been embraced by educationalist around the globe. When students are focused on solving problems that are relevant to them, a much deeper learning happens.
Salience Network: Recent neuroscience has discovered that we have multiple networks in our brain, the default network, the executive control network, and a recently discovered salience network. When learning engages all three of these networks, our ability to solve problems is significantly greater.
Divergent Thinking: When we embrace the uniqueness of how individual's think about problems, immense possibility is realized. Much of education is based on the concept of Convergent Thinking - leading to a single solution. The key to solving problems as a team is that diversity is introduced that allows for radical new solutions.
